Get Connected Today with NBN Fixed Wireless

As the NBN aims to bring high-speed broadband to all Australian households, they came up with a wireless solution to enable broadband providers to reach rural or underdeveloped areas.

The Internet is sent from the main access point (typically supplied with high-speed fibre-optic lines) to individual receivers installed at businesses, farms, and homes. This type of internet connection is becoming increasingly popular in areas where traditional internet delivery methods are unreliable or unavailable.

Fixed wireless internet has several advantages over other internet connections, including its ability to penetrate obstacles such as trees and buildings. In addition, fixed wireless internet is less likely to be affected by weather conditions such as wind and rain. As a result, it can offer a more consistent and reliable connection than other types of internet service.

How NBN Fixed Wireless Works

Among all the NBN connection types, Fixed Wireless is the most cost-effective way to access high-speed internet in remote or rural areas. This connection is like a large scale WiFi signal; it utilises data transmitted over radio signals to connect premises to the NBN network, making it ideal for locations far from the nearest base tower or station.

In particular, fixed wireless connections allow for transmission towers located up to 14 kilometres away from the end user’s premises, ensuring that even the most remote and rugged of environments can take advantage of the full speeds and reliability offered by the NBN.

To set up this connection, an approved internet service provider must first instal an NBN outdoor antenna on your premises. The antenna collects information via radio signals from nearby a transmission tower and transmits this data via fibre optic cables to your NBN connection box. From here, you can enjoy fast internet speeds and a reliable connection at all times.
